Subject:Convergence XXII
Posted by:missmorte.
Time:8:02 pm.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Ghouls and Bois, we are honored to present to you your next Convergence.
In 2015 we invite you to come along for the ride to the City of Lost Angels, for a weekend of debauchery that could only happen in Hollywood.

Just a reminder -- for anyone who hasn't been to Convergence recently, you can self-register to vote here, at any time when a vote isn't currently running... so, now would be a good time, if you want a voice in the C21 process!

(Should be working -- please check with Peter H. Coffin if you have any issues.)

Subject:Virtual Garage Sale
Posted by:dicemistress.
Time:11:13 am.
In light of a recent move, I've decided it's time to sell off stuff I've not worn or used that I've found while packing and unpacking and let those items go to people who will use or have a need for them.

There's a variety of things up for sale: neo-medieval/gothic style dresses and clubwear to some very nice gowns to LARP gear/Renaissance wear to some gaming stuff and other miscellaneous items. I've also got some additional items I'll be adding to the listings in a few days.

Folks who are local to King County, WA, I will happily arrange to meet up with to drop stuff off. If you don't live in King County I may be willing to travel and are more than willing to ship via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation, however I'll only ship within the US (sorry international people). Cash and PayPal are the only forms of payment accepted.

If you have a question about an item or want to get a particular item, please use the "Email this Person" link at the bottom of the item's listing to email me. Requests from other sources/not coming from the "Email this Person" link on each item's listing will be ignored.

More info and links to the listings are at http://www.mortalisrpg.com/VGS/

Subject:UPDATE -C-15 CG Dinner Friday July 17th at 6pm.
Posted by:christalblu.
Time:12:54 pm.
I am very pleased to announce that we will be having the CG dinner at the House of Madame JoJo in Long Beach. Madame JoJo’s is decorated like a brothel from the 20’s and the restaurant is 10 minutes from the Queen Mary. I spoke to the owner and she is closing the restaurant for us. They are going to provide a special menu for us for the price of $40 per person and it includes tax (tax in Long Beach is very high right now at 9%) and tip. What it doesn’t include are your drinks (beer and wine). She said she’d cut slack on the tax for anyone paying cash for beverages and we are getting a deal on the food too. For those with gluten issues don’t worry there are at least 2 choices that are gluten free. There is also a vegetarian option. I will do my best to get a run down of the menu for next week. I do know that we spoke of a fish, chicken and veggie pasta dish.

Now for the fun part, because she is shutting down the restaurant for us I need to make sure that everyone who is attending is still planning to do so. If you feel you cannot make the dinner, please let me know. I don’t want to have her shut down the place for only 10 people. If you would still like to come but didn’t have me add you to the list contact me and If we have seats I will make sure you get in.

Don’t hesitate to ask me questions I’m more than happy to answer them (please no snarky comments in LJ or on the list, I can’t guarantee I’ll be very nice after the last run in)

Please go check out the link below it tells a little more about Madam JoJo’s and has a menu you can at least view.

Subject:Call for Vendors
Posted by:wyngdlyon.
Time:3:00 pm.
Calling all vendors!

Vending space for Convergence 15 in Long Beach is now available.

We have been fortunate enough to acquire The Britannia Salon for our vendors. This 7,500 square foot room was originally the Second-Class Lounge and features original artwork, exotic woods and leather wall coverings. As you walk into the salon on either side, you enter a large foyer area with the main portion of the room set off by “reverse partitions” – creating a room within a room type of setup.

Pricing for vendors is as follows.

$150 per table per day
- approximately 8’ x 8’ in dimension

All vendors will be allotted one discounted Convergence 15 laminate per table per day (one table for two days of vending = 2 discounted laminates, etc). The discounted laminate will cost $40.

Vendor space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Submissions will be accommodated in the order they are received by the C15 vendor coordinator, Colleen.

Please send the following information to Colleen at vendors@convergence15.com to reserve your space now!

GVA Lends assistance to Monster Manor...

Project Odfficers: Albertine and Cortland Young.

Help us put together the best haunted house in San Diego!

All proceeds go to charity. Volunteers include set designers, special effect masters, make-up experts, and many people just helping out with no specific experience.

Join the Monster Manor crew on Saturday, September 6th at 10 AM in the Target Shopping Center on Mira Mesa Blvd. in Mira Mesa.

We will start unloading props - from light to heavy. There are plenty of light stuff for those who prefer not carrying heavy things.

Lunch will be provided as well as drinks and snacks. We need as many people as possible - 30? Or more if possible.

Anyone who has tools and likes to use them, please bring them as we will also start building the walls. Tools will be provided for those who enjoy building.

The website is www. monstermanor. org.

Please RSVP so we may gauge how many people will join us.

What is Monster Manor?

Monster Manor and Lite Frite are the annual fundraisers for the Mira Mesa Theatre Guild.

These ALL-volunteer, non-profit Halloween attractions are housed under a 4000 sq. ft. tent located in the Target shopping center in Mira Mesa, Ca. Managed and run by professionals in the Motion Picture, Television, Theatre, and Audio Visual fields, Monster Manor brings some of the best "scares" around.

Starting as a home haunt, Mira Mesa icon, Tim Allen, along with fellow haunter John Hart, decided to bring their love of Halloween to the public in 2001. Each year Monster Manor has grown more and more. More than half of the Manor’s 200 volunteers are made up of teens from the local high school, who earn Community Service hours for their help in building and acting at the haunt.

All "profits" from the haunt go to various charities and non profit organizations.

The funds needed to produce the attraction come from many generous sponsors including:
Pardee Homes
Time Warner Cable
Mira Mesa Shopping Center…to name a few.

Subject:Sick Sick SICK
Posted by:billyname99.
Time:8:56 pm.
(x-posted and Slightly Off-Topic)

Sharon & I watched 'Sicko' today. The Michael Moore Documentary on Health Care in the USA.

15 years ago, I would have been blogging this and spewing rage, disgust and shame at the this country.

The sad part is that I am not surprised by anything I saw in the film. Except the Hospital in Havana, Cuba. Or the Cashier's office in the London hospital.

The Managed Care industry in the U.S. is Appalling, since it's entire existence is dependent on NOT Treating people who need medical assistance. They deny coverage, which saves the Insurance Co. lots money, which means Higher Profits, which is ultimately worth more than the life of any human being.

I've heard the Horror Stories, and the mass AMA Sponsored Propaganda about the Evils Of Socialized Medicine all my life.

What I saw in the film of the Socialized Health Care Systems in Canada, France, The U.K. and Cuba seems to prove otherwise.

You see, this film bothered me on many levels, If what I saw in the film was true, it proves that the U.S. is NOT the "Greatest Country in the World", and that we are constantly fed a bunch of comforting lies via the news and the neo-con types that do nothing but bash every other nation in the Western World for daring to utilize a Socialist concept for the benefit of their citizens.

So, I have a few Questions for any of you who live or have lived in Europe, Mexico, The U.K. or Canada:

Compared to the U.S., How good is the Medical System in your country?

How long do you have to wait to see a doctor?
How would you rate the competence of the Doctors that treated you?
How much do you pay for Prescriptions Drugs and/or equipment?
How much do you pay for Eyeglasses and/or Contact Lenses?
How much do you pay for Dental work?
How Up-To-Date are the Facilities where you go for treatment?
How much would an Emergency Room trip cost?
How Competent are the Nurses, Orderlies, CNA's, and EMT's?

I saw the Propaganda from the Insurance Companies and the AMA, and Mr. Moore's footage seems to completely disprove all of it.

So I'd like to get some First Hand Info from people who KNOW.

Please comment here or email me @ billyname99@yahoo.com with your comments.

Posted by:scarletfaewind.
Time:10:13 am.
Mood: productive.
Currently I only have about ten people who have RSVP'd for the brunch:

- John and Kay W.
- Joe and myself
- Caroline and txtriffidranch
- Syncat
- Dayo
- lil_m_moses

Anyone else want to be included in the brunch? I will be calling them tomorrow and will ask if they think it will be possible to add more people should they show up, but no promises. Of course, since a big portion of the convention will just be going to bed, I don't see how this would be a problem.

Subject:New Community: Goth City Maps
Posted by:__lobotomy__.
Time:4:29 pm.
Hey all,

Just wanted to let you know about a new community
gothcitymaps  which aims to get people all over the world to create Google maps of their cities to serve as a valuable resource to any dark alternative types who visit those cities.

Currently we're looking for as many submitters as we can get (obviously one for every city on Earth :P). We are also going to be hopefully needing community moderators (perhaps one for each contributing country?), first preference will be given to map contributers.

Thanks and happy map building!

We caught the tread of dancing feet,
We loitered down the moonlit street,
And stopped beneath the harlot's house.
Inside, above the din and fray,
We heard the loud musicians play
The "Treues Liebes Herz" of Strauss.

Like strange mechanical grotesques,
Making fantastic arabesques,
The shadows raced across the blind.

We watched the ghostly dancers spin
To sound of horn and violin,
Like black leaves wheeling in the wind.

Like wire-pulled automatons,
Slim silhouetted skeletons
Went sidling through the slow quadrille.

They took each other by the hand,
And danced a stately saraband;
Their laughter echoed thin and shrill.

Sometimes a clockwork puppet pressed
A phantom lover to her breast,
Sometimes they seemed to try to sing.

Sometimes a horrible marionette
Came out, and smoked its cigarette
Upon the steps like a living thing.

Then turning to my love, I said,
"The dead are dancing with the dead,
The dust is whirling with the dust."

But she - she heard the violin,
And left my side, and entered in:
Love passed into the house of lust.

Then suddenly the tune went false,
The dancers wearied of the waltz,
The shadows ceased to wheel and whirl.

And down the long and silent street,
The dawn, with silver-sandalled feet,
Crept like a frightened girl.

Posted by:etcet.
Time:8:46 am.
So.... since Angel, Bob, and I are liable to be a *little* busy at the time, would someone like to organize the CG dinner at C14?

Feel free to ping us for restaurant recommendations and all that sort of thing. Plenty of good grub to be had, much to my pre-gothcruise diet's dismay. (Last night's discovery was $5 liters of beer at a hole in the wall with great music - SoM, NIN, Bob Marley, the Beasties...)

Also, tickets to C14 are now on sale at c14ybor.com.
